I had a great experience renting a car there. thanks to the included gravel protection we were covered for a little crack on the windscreen caused by a rock. when i was returning the car, a young employee there was very nice towards me and everything was done super fast. i definitely recommend.

We had decided to travel to Iceland for 12 days in August-
From Tripadvisor:
We had decided to travel to Iceland for 12 days in August and contacted several rental car companies in early July. With an itinerary that would take us on the entire Ring Road, as well as Landmannalaugar, we wanted a reliable SUV to travel those gravel roads in the highlands. Prices in the summertime in Iceland is quite costly for car rentals ranging from $1800 to $3200 USD but our budget was $1700 to $1800 USD. The rental cars, which received not so good reviews on this forum (no need to disclose), offered the lower prices; however, we wanted to rent from a reputable local company due to our travel plans (on unpaved roads).
We didn't want to sacrifice safety, and were hopeful we could find a well regarded car company within our budget. Thus, we contacted several reputable companies in hopes of developing some level of comfort with them and narrowed our search between Reykjavik Cars and Iceland Car Rental. We decided on Iceland Car Rental (www.icelandcarrental.is) f

I visitied Iceland again at the beginning of November after falling in love with it on my April trip (see earlier in this thread). I booked a Hyundai ix35 on their website, and that's exactly the car I received. The vehicle was less than a year old and in excellent condition. Very comfy and the heated seats (front and rear!) were a lovely touch for the cold mornings :)
This time I opted to collect the car from the airport. I was met at arrivals by one of Icelandcarrental's employees, who drove us the relatively short distance to the airport rental office. Within 5 minutes we had our car and were driving off to Reykjavik.
Return was fuss free as last time. Planning to visit again next year, in Summer this time, so will definitely be renting from Icelandcarrental again

We just returned from 3 weeks in Iceland-
From Tripadvisor:
We just returned from 3 weeks in Iceland, mostly driving the ring road with a few side trips.
We rented 2 Suzuki Grand Vitaras from Iceland Car rental (http://www.icelandcarrental.is/). I would highly recommend this company for their excellent service, their great vehicles, and a very competitive price.
Their vehicles were fairly new and in excellent shape. They ran smoothly, had no problems during our travels, were very clean and one of them even had the full navigation/bluetooth/iphone console system.
The service was fantastic. We were greeted at the airport (at a very early hour) and taken to our cars, and with that were off into the amazing landscape. When we ripped two tires on a rock, their service hotline was very helpful and the owner was very fair with assessing the damage. He was a pleasure to deal with. I shudder to think what would have happened at one of the big international companies.
Iceland car rental is one of those small companies that everyone

I'd just like to add my recommendation for IcelandCarRental -
From Tripadvisor:
Hi all,
I'd just like to add my recommendation for IcelandCarRental (www.icelandcarrental.is).
I was the lead in a group of six, tasked with sorting car rental. After sifting through various web forums for reviews, I settled on IcelandCarRental as they seemed like a good mix of price and positive reviews. They definitely weren't the cheapest, but they weren't as pricey as some of the big name companies.
I booked well in advance, which I think gave me a bit of a discount too, perhaps 10% or so. I chose the Ford Explorer, and in the months leading up to the trip, made various changes to the booking (timing, pickup/drop-off location etc) which Hrannar kindly sorted out for me without any problems.
The car was dropped off to me at my hotel (free of charge) by the company's owner. A very nice chap, who I can't remember the name of! We went through the paperwork and then he actually sat down and gave me a quick chat about driving in Iceland, especially on the gravel ro

I recently visited Iceland for 2 weeks-
From Tripadvisor:
I recently visited Iceland for 2 weeks - travelling from Reykjavik via the Golden Circle to Snæfellsnes and on to the West Fjords. I've hired a lot of cars before through all the major companies but never tried a local firm before and I have to say, it was the best car hire I have ever experienced. Ieland car rental (http://www.icelandcarrental.is/) were cheaper than the International companies, but what really made them great was the personal service and flexibility. I'd booked the smalles car available, but they had none left so they upgraded me to a beautiful Suzuki Grand Vitara 4x4 - perfect for Iceland's rough roads! The owner of the company himself brought the car to where I was staying. The car itself was great - super comfortable, sturdy and reliable. I really enjoyed driving it. When we returned from our road trip we weren't due to stay in Reykjavik again but had assumed we'd have to drop the car off there, but instead, for just £20 the company collected it f
