With its minimalist interior, panoramic glass roof, and high-tech design, the Tesla Model 3 offers a premium driving experience. The cabin is bright and spacious, with seating for up to five passengers. Heated seats and dual-zone climate control ensure comfort during Iceland’s colder months, while the silent electric motor creates a calm driving atmosphere.

Cargo space

The Model 3 offers two luggage compartments: a front trunk (frunk) and a rear trunk. Combined, they hold 2–3 medium suitcases, and folding the rear seats expands storage space further, making it practical for carrying extra gear such as hiking or photography equipment.

Driving performance

This version of the Model 3 features rear-wheel drive (RWD), providing a smooth and stable drive on paved roads and standard gravel routes. With automatic transmission and instant torque, the car is easy to handle both in the city and on long road trips. Like all sedans in Iceland, it is not permitted on F-roads.

Range and charging

The Tesla Model 3 Short Range offers a range of up to 400 km per charge, depending on conditions. Your rental car will be delivered with 70%–100% battery and must be returned with at least 70% battery. If the vehicle is returned with less than 70% charge, a fee of 25,000 ISK will apply.

Each rental includes a Type 2 charging cable and an ON charging key to access Iceland’s national charging network. Lost or damaged cables incur a 65,000 ISK fee. Recommended charging stations can be accessed via a QR code inside the car, making route planning simple.

For the best experience, we recommend using 50 kW (DC or CCS/SAE) fast-charging stations, which typically recharge the battery in 30–60 minutes. Tesla Superchargers and third-party networks are available throughout Iceland, including along the Ring Road.

Technology and features

The Model 3’s cabin is centered around a 15-inch touchscreen display, controlling navigation, media, climate, and driver-assistance systems. Bluetooth, USB ports, and built-in navigation with charging station locations make road trips stress-free. The car’s minimalist design enhances the futuristic driving experience.

Safety

The Tesla Model 3 is one of the safest sedans on the road. It includes automatic emergency braking, collision warning, lane-keeping assist, stability control, and multiple airbags. With winter tires fitted from November to April and all-season tires in summer, the car is equipped for Iceland’s year-round road conditions.

Where you can drive

The Tesla Model 3 is best suited for paved roads and well-maintained gravel routes, such as the Ring Road, Golden Circle, and South Coast. It is not allowed on F-roads or off-road tracks.
