Smooth, efficient performance

At the heart of the Dolphin is a 60.4 kWh Blade (LFP) battery designed for durability and consistent cold-weather performance. Expect an official WLTP range up to 427 km on a full charge, with responsive acceleration from its permanent-magnet motor (0–100 km/h in ~7 s; top speed ~160 km/h). Regenerative braking recovers energy as you slow, stretching your day’s range across mixed city and coastal driving.

Charging made simple

The Dolphin supports DC fast charging up to 88 kW (typically 10–80% in ~40 minutes)—perfect for topping up while you grab a coffee or explore a viewpoint. For overnight stops with on-site chargers, 11 kW AC brings the battery from low to full in just over 7 hours. The car uses CCS (DC) and Type 2 (AC) ports, so it’s compatible with Iceland’s public network across towns and along the Ring Road.
Battery policy: your BYD Dolphin will be delivered at 70–100% and must be returned with ≥70% charge; returns below 70% incur a 25,000 ISK fee.

Cabin comfort & clever tech

Inside, the Dolphin feels airy and modern. The star is a 12.8″ rotating touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, backed by Bluetooth and USB-C ports front and rear for easy charging and connectivity. Heated front seats, automatic climate control, and vegan-leather upholstery keep everyone comfortable when the weather flips. Despite its compact footprint, the Dolphin seats up to five and offers a 345 L boot (good for 1–2 large suitcases); drop the rear seats to unlock 1,310 L for bulkier gear like tripods or camping kits.

Safety & driver assistance

A full suite of driver-assistance features adds confidence on long days: adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and in many vehicles a 360° camera for easier parking at busy viewpoints. Seasonal tyres are fitted as standard—winter tyres from November to April—so the car is ready for Iceland’s conditions when you drive to the weather.

Where you can drive

The BYD Dolphin is perfect for paved roads and well-maintained gravel routes across Iceland—including the Golden Circle, South Coast, Snæfellsnes, and the main Ring Road. As a 2WD hatchback, it is not permitted on F-roads or rough Highland tracks.
